Creative renovation & storage

A home for a lifetime of collections.

Useful storage, family history and a little imagination.

Organized basement collection room with white shelving, display cabinets and an antique blue trunk

The challenge

The owners had inherited antiques, collections and cabinets made by the client’s father, and weren’t sure how to organize or display them.

The solution

The basement was transformed into organized storage with space to display the collections. Family-made cabinets were incorporated, and a display was created for rocks collected by the client’s mother, a geologist.

The result

A modest-budget renovation that gives the family’s belongings a place to be kept, seen and enjoyed.

A closer look at the craft.

**Before**Collections and furniture filled the original basement.

**Finished room**Storage and displays bring order to the space.

**An artistic detail**An antique carriage becomes part of the display.

“It wasn’t an expensive renovation, but it was one of my favourites. It was more on the artistic side.” — Drew
